When and where is the Wisconsin High School Sports Awards?

The Wisconsin High School Sports Awards will take place May 12, 2017 at Lambeau Field Atrium.

What's included with my ticket?

Both purchased and complimentary tickets include entry into the event and a seat in the atrium. The ticket does not include any access to celebrity guest, Clay Matthews.

What will happen the night of the event?

Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm, so all ticket holders are welcome to arrive during this time. All attendees must have a ticket to enter the venue. Athletes should arrive no later than 7pm and will need to check in (follow signs for check in). As you enter the venue there will be a red carpet experience with photo opportunities for all event attendees. You will need to enter the event space by 7:45pm to be seated for the 8pm show start. The show will feature various awards, entertainment, and celebrity guest, Clay Matthews. As award winners are announced they will be brought on stage to accept the award.

What is a player of the year award?

A player of the year award recognizes the performance and accomplishments of individual athletes by sport.

What is a premier award?

A premier award honors a greater on or off-the-field achievement of athletes, coaches and schools.

How are winners chosen?

By the USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin sports staff.

What do I wear to the event?

This is a red carpet award show, cocktail attire is recommended.

What time should I arrive to the event?

Doors will open at 7pm and the show will begin at 8pm.

Where can I purchase tickets?

Who will have access to celebrity guest, Clay Matthews?

Clay Matthews will be seen by the general public on stage for the question and answer portion of the event. There will be no opportunities for photos or autographs. No outside media will have access to him.

Where will I be seated?

This event is general admission seating. All purchased ticket holders will be seated in the general admission area, on a first come, first served basis.

Where can I view photos of the event afterwards?

Coverage of the event will be posted here after the event. Wisconsin’s USA TODAY NETWORK publications will also be posting coverage on both their website and their social media.

What is my role in making sure that my athletes are recognized at the Wisconsin Sports Awards?

Participation and responsiveness from our coaches and athletic directors are vital in order for athletes to receive recognition on this special night.

  1. As athletes are invited their names will be posted here.
  2. After your athletes are selected you will be notified via email, and given an RSVP link & passcode to forward to your athlete. Reporters and staff from Wisconsin's USA TODAY NETWORK publications will be reaching out to you via email to give you the RSVP link. Invited athletes need to RSVP within the designated time frame in order to reserve their tickets.
  3. We ask that you forward the RSVP link & passcode to parents/guardians of athletes as well. Athletes must receive the link and password provided to you in order to RSVP. We understand parents may be more likely to RSVP for their athlete.

If you know that a particular athlete cannot attend, please contact Kathleen Phelan at ksphelan@gannett.com.

How will I know if one of my athletes is invited?

Invited athletes will be posted here as each season concludes. You will also be contacted via email as your athletes are selected. Please check your spam folder regularly.

How will my athlete RSVP?

As a coach or athletic director we ask that you give your athletes the RSVP link and passcode. The passcode will be given to you via email as soon as your athletes are selected. The athlete will input the passcode, fill out the required fields in order to reserve their tickets, and then submit the RSVP. They will receive a confirmation email after they RSVP.

How will my athlete receive their tickets?

After they RSVP they will receive a confirmation email which will provide them with instructions for the day of the event.

How many tickets will my athlete receive?

Invited athletes will receive 2 complimentary tickets, including their own. Any additional tickets can be purchased here. Complimentary ticket holders will need to check in on site with the athlete in order to receive all tickets.

How can I or my school purchase tickets?

Tickets to the event can be purchased here.

I'm a coach that is a finalist, what should I expect?

As a coach you will be asked to RSVP the same way that athletes would. Your name will be listed as invited and you will be notified that you have been invited to the event. You will receive 2 complimentary tickets, including your own ticket. When you RSVP please indicate that you are a coach in the “award” field.

After you see your name as an invited athlete, it is time to RSVP. Your athletic director or coach is responsible for giving you the password to the RSVP page. You will need to confirm your attendance to the event by filling out the RSVP form. After confirming your attendance you will receive a confirmation email with day of event instructions. If your name is on the invited athlete list here, but you have not been contacted by your coach or athletic director, please contact Kathleen Phelan at ksphelan@gannett.com. All athletes must RSVP by April 25, 2017.

If you are a winner you will be called up to the stage and we ask that you give a brief acceptance speech to accept your trophy.

If you have a prior engagement, please contact Kathleen Phelan at ksphelan@gannett.com to let us know you can’t make it. It is important that we know who is unable to attend the event.
